What to Wear on 4th of July

Shop My Cocktail Outfit:

She Said:
We are two days away from the 4th! We are so lucky to be free, celebrating by the pool, cooking out and watching glistening fireworks. Picking out a few different red, white and blue outfits are always fun depending on your Independence Day plans. This blue dress is perfect for a cocktail type gathering for the 4th it is loose, but structured with a modern twist. This red striped clutch resembles the flag and these red heels are one of my favorite pairs I own. I plan on probably wearing the plaid outfit I wore yesterday but loving this monochromatic contrast. Most of my outfit pieces can be purchased at South Bay Galleria, so be sure to check out there sales!
He Said:
Love the colors hate the style. The loud pops of colors in red and blue look good.  Perfect for a loud 4th of July evening, but this dress is not flattering to say the least. The dress is so loose around her mid section giving her the appearance of being much bigger. Because it is loose around her waist it creates a straight line from her shoulders to her thigh, the entire length of the dress. Something that is a must with a dress like this is to add a belt to break up the fabric and create a waist. My favorite look from the below is her plaid outfit – hands down.

Red, White and Blue Plaid Stripes

Belted Plaid Shirt Dress from Forever 21, Nude High Heel Sandal c/o LuLu’s, American Flag Sunnies c/o Sunglass Warehouse, Hydra VIP Clutch c/o Hammit Los Angeles, Marc Jacob Stud Earrings from Nordstrom and MAC Cosmetics Ruby Woo Lipstick from Nordstrom
Shop Farfetch Plaid:

She Said:
Happy July!! You can always count on a classic plaid print to lend a dose of crisp Americana to your look. I was reached out by Farfetch to Style a 4th look all about the Stars and Stripes and these plaid lines make for the perfect stripes, wouldn't you agree? American sunglasses are on point for the fourth of July with the flag wrapped around them and in a wayfarer style, everyone should own a pair! By adding LuLu’s nude heel, and red VIP bag the center of this look is the plaid dress which is vintage in a modern style that screams patriotic. With the red, white and blue it makes for the perfect Independence Day outfit. This is the third July fourth look I have styled, here is the first and second for more options. What are you doing for the 4th?
He Said:
I absolutely love this outfit! The colors look great on her and this style is so different from what I am used to seeing. The sunglasses are a cute touch and would normally be a little over the top but perfect for the 4th of July! This blends well and so do the heels. Being from the Midwest it may even look better if she had a cute pair of cowboy boots on. None the less she looks stunning and sexy on this very special day for America.

Nude & Red

Layered Cutout t-Shirt Dress from Forever 21, Etched Coin Bib Necklace from Forever 21, Emmie Purse c/o Sole Society, MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick from Nordstrom and Studded Sandals (similar here)

She Said:
This Fourth of July outfit is a little more behind the scenes. I purchased this dress under $15 from Forever 21 and I love the simple nude color, style and it has an open slit back (not shown). I may have to get it in black too. I added a dramatic coin bib necklace wit red accents. These valentine inspired sandals are dramatic and edgy with studs and 3 straps around my ankle. I know this is not the typical red, white and blue look but a hint of red and nude never hurt. What do you think about this subtle patriotic look?
He Said:
Normally I would not advocate the nude color on a woman, but surprisingly it looks good. The light tan color really accents her skin tone which is something I never thought I would like. One thing I am on the fence about is her bag; the bag might be too similar.  Thank God for the lipstick and sandals otherwise the nude would be very overwhelming and just too much to handle. Don’t get me wrong this ensemble is a solid 8 but with that said one more pop of color with a different bag could make it a 10.
